While many fans of The Replacements savor Paul Westerburgs post-Mats solo material, no one is in denial over the contrasts between the two. Yes, his clever wordplay and philosophy remain firmly tethered to the aesthetics of Minneapolis fab-four, but there was something a little different afoot. In fact, his stark, confessional Suicane Gratification in 1999, and 2002s likeminded Stereo albums proved to be sheer gold mines, chockablock with his most affecting ballads to date.Then theres his decidedly more whimsical side. In 1997, he had a bright idea to create an alter-ego dubbed Grandpaboy, ostensibly to house his rawer, louder, and arguably raunchier songs. Crazy thing is, this single and a simultaneously issued Grandpaboy ep, whether coincidentally or nor, serve as the perfect precursor to his recent web-exclusive releases, e.g. 49:00 formally available through Amazon.com. I supposed youd actually have to hear 49:00 to know what Im talking about, but anyway... Although two more Grandpaboy albums were to follow in the 00s, I still think this single (and for that matter the ep) stand as the most enjoyable and representative efforts Westerberg has recorded under his assumed moniker. I Want My Money Back is rip-roaring, impulsive, and was most likely recorded on the fly given its tossed-off sense of abandon. The flip, Undone, takes a calmer path, veering towards a country angle, with some faintly plucked banjo pickin going on in the background. Just FYI, these two tracks are credited to Winthrop Marion Percival V on the back sleeve. Hmmm...

En conmemoración a su cercano concierto, he aquí uno de los mejores (sino el mejor) disco de Andrés Calamaro en su etapa solista. Gran producción que significo su definitivo regreso en solitario luego de su exitoso paso por Los Rodriguez
El regreso de Andrelo no pudo haber sido mejor, se fue a los Estados Unidos con el cerebro lleno de ideas y produjo sus temas más famosos. El ejemplo de Loco y Flaca son los más consistenetes, los cuales son reconocidos por personas que no saben siquiera quien es Calamaro.
Alta Suciedad es un disco sin un género definido, ya que va del hard rock en la epónima Alta Suciedad, a la balada Media Verónica, no sin antes irse por el blues y el folk-rock. Esto explica la gran versatilidad de estilos de Calamaro, lo cual lo ha enredado en varias críticas por parte de músicos que afirman que no es un músico rock.
Un tema que es característico por la extrañeza de su letra y su música que va entre tango (por el prominente uso del acordeón) y el soft rock es Elvis Está Vivo, tema que no deja de ser gracioso por la historia que narra y genial por el uso de un instrumento no característico de la música rock. Parecida historia tiene Donde Manda Marinero, que es un tema con ciertas influencias del reggae y que, combinado con un rock bluesero, crea un tema único en su especie.
Alta Suciedad abre el álbum con sus fuertes riffs de guitarra. Un hard rock que luego se mezcla con trompetas e instrumentos el género ska, muy parecido a lo que hacían Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, pero el extra que le daba Calamaro era su potente sonido rockero.
Loco, tema que le generó un gran problema judicial por su letra: Voy a salir a caminar solito / sentarme en un parque a fumar un porrito, que según sus acusadores incitaba a los jóvenes a consumir droga, el caso terminó con la absolución de Calamaro. El tema emplea en gran parte una trompeta que se silencia luego por la aparición de un solo de guitarra de blues que se extiende hasta el final del tema.
Flaca el himno de Calamaro, reconocido en el mundo entero por su gran letra y sobre todo por su hermoso y reconocidísimo solo de trompeta al final de la canción. La letra nos habla de un hombre que es traicionado por una mujer: Flaca no me claves / Tus puñales por la espalda / Tan profundo / No me duelen no me hacen mal, y en su dolor intenta recordar todo lo que hicieron juntos: Entre el no me olvides / Me dejes
