Segundo álbum do grupo inglês Camel, Mirage pode ser considerado, sem exagero, um dos grandes trabalhos do rock progressivo. Aqui o grupo encontrou o seu próprio som, que geraria ainda mais alguns discos antológicos, como The Show Goose de 1975 e Moonmadness de 1976.
Para quem está acostumado com os flertes de ícones do prog setentista, como Yes e Jethro Tull, com o hard rock, a música do Camel surpreende pela sutileza. Repletos de pequenos detalhes, os arranjos elevam as canções, que mais parecem peças sonoras esculpidas como todo o cuidado do mundo. Entre elas, destaque para a suíte Lady Fantasy e suas várias partes, de longe a composição mais conhecida do grupo.
Mirage is Camels second album, released in 1974. Their self-titled debut Camel came before this one in 1973, and The Snow Goose came after it in 1975. Mirage is one of the groups most remembered albums. It features their most well known song, Lady Fantasy, and is also a showplace for Andrew Latimers flute, notably on Supertwister.
There are only five tracks on this record, two over 9 minutes. Those two are multi-part epics: Lady Fantasy and Nimrodel / The Procession / The White Rider, the latter being about The Lord of the Rings saga. It was released on Deram Records. The albums cover art very closely resembles the cover on the Camel cigarettes.
